Sustainable Printing

At Kall Kwik we are always working to reduce the impact of our business on the environment. We believe in recycling and using energy efficient presses and eco-friendly materials.

At the same time we strongly believe that print and paper is an attractive, practical and sustainable communications medium. There are a lot of common misconceptions and myths around the environment and paper, so if you would like to learn more about these take a look at: www.twosides.info

Recycling

All our small format digital production machine toner cartridges are recycled, as well as all the paper and plastic in print production and the office. Where we can, our consumables are also all recycled.

We have a large range of recycled papers available for use in your projects.

Energy Efficient

All our machines operate on sleep modes when not in use, so consume less energy

Do we use environmentally friendly inks?

Our main printing process here at Kall Kwik is digital printing using Xerox presses and dry toners. Dry toners are generally more environmentally friendly using less energy and creating less wastage than offset printing.

Sometimes customers wonder how our toners compare to vegetable-based inks such as “soy inks”. The use of soy-based inks is desirable in traditional offset printing because, by substituting the soy oil for part of the petroleum oil, volatile organic emissions are reduced. In contrast, the Xerox production presses use dry toners, not liquid inks. Toners are fine powders. Since Xerox toners are safe and non-toxic and because Xerox products are designed to adhere to strict emission standards, emissions of volatile organic compounds during printing should not be a concern (as it might be in offset printing and some digital liquid ink technologies).

Our large format work is produced on an HP Latex 360 printer using water-based HP Latex Inks – which offer health and environmental advantages compared to eco-solvent, solvent or UV-curable inks – from the work zone to the point-of-display of finished prints.

Sustainability and Carbon capture with the Woodland Trust

Our paper suppliers are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and ISO14001 certified  with our paper coming from Sustainable Forests.  We are also a member of the Carbon Capture programme in partnership with the Woodland Trust and Premier Paper.

The Carbon Capture Programme allows us to capture our COemissions by planting native woodland right here in the UK. For every paper purchase we make, a percentage of the cost is given directly to the Woodland Trust who use it to plant woodland at one of their accredited woodland creation sites within the UK. Their vision for the UK is to expand their 1,200 woodlands and create rich native woods and trees for the public to enjoy.

We provide carbon captured print for our customers and their businesses at no extra cost, enabling their carbon impacts to be offset by the Woodland Trust. We do this as we understand that we all have a part to play in the fight against climate change and recognise that our customers believe the same way we do.

Our unique woodland carbon capture logo can be added to the print we produce for you, if you so wish.
